When it comes to funding recycling services there are different legal arrangements and approaches. This can include Recycling Credit payments made within two tier local authority areas, if the collection authority retains the material. In some two-tier areas other, mutually agreed alternative treatment and financial arrangements exist. Individual local authorities are best placed to make local decisions that best meets the needs of residents and businesses in the communities they serve.
NAWDO encourages DEFRA to bring proposals forward in the Resources & Waste Strategy. Financial support is needed for local authorities to improve waste prevention, re-use and recycling services.
